{"id":19439,"date":"2023-02-20T09:14:07","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T09:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/?p=19439"},"modified":"2023-03-10T10:35:26","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T10:35:26","slug":"supporting-inclusive-peace-through-technology-peacefem-v2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gentest.cahss.ed.ac.uk\/dev-peacerep\/2023\/02\/20\/supporting-inclusive-peace-through-technology-peacefem-v2\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting inclusive peace through technology: PeaceFem app V2 now live"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Women\u2019s participation in peacebuilding is vital for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/03050629.2018.1492386\">building inclusive, sustainable peace<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/unscr.com\/en\/resolutions\/doc\/1325\">United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325<\/a> reaffirms the important role of women in conflict resolution and calls for women\u2019s equal participation and involvement in peace and security. Yet more than 20 years since its adoption, women frequently remain excluded from peace process negotiations and often participate at great personal risk. How can we encourage <a href=\"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/2022\/07\/21\/gender-perspectives-in-peace-agreements-new-approach\/\">gender mainstreaming in peace processes<\/a>, and can technology help?<\/p>\n<p>In 2020 PeaceRep and our partners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/en\">UN Women<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inclusivepeace.org\/\">InclusivePeace<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monash.edu\/arts\/gender-peace-security\/home\">Gender, Peace and Security Centre<\/a> at Monash University launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/peacefem\">PeaceFem mobile app<\/a> to meet demand for tools and resources supporting women\u2019s inclusion in peace processes. PeaceFem is designed to support women\u2019s rights advocates, mediation teams, and other peace and security actors in influencing peace process negotiations by providing case studies on gender provisions in peace agreements, and strategies used to work for their inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Following its launch in 2020, PeaceFem is now in use in more than 60 countries. We are delighted to announce that PeaceFem has now been updated for 2023, with additional case studies and languages that will expand the app\u2019s reach and accessibility among women\u2019s rights advocates in even more regions around the world.<\/p>\n<h3>What\u2019s new in Version 2?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Additional case studies on women\u2019s involvement and gender perspectives in peace processes in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Tunisia<\/li>\n<li>New full translations into French and Indonesian, alongside English and Arabic<\/li>\n<li>Technical improvements to improve user experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PeaceFem is an important contribution to the growing field of PeaceTech, which uses data and technology to support peacebuilding. The app draws on case studies developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inclusivepeace.org\/\">InclusivePeace<\/a> and Monash University and 30 years of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peaceagreements.org\/\">PA-X peace agreement data<\/a> from the University of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>PeaceFem is free to download from the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=app.trigyn.PeaceFem\">Google Play Store (for Android)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/peacefem\/id1520152849\">Apple App Store (for iOS)<\/a>.
