{"id":21702,"date":"2023-10-03T17:30:09","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T17:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/?p=21702"},"modified":"2023-11-15T10:14:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T10:14:07","slug":"peacerep-hosts-beyond-borders-women-in-conflict-fellows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gentest.cahss.ed.ac.uk\/dev-peacerep\/2023\/10\/03\/peacerep-hosts-beyond-borders-women-in-conflict-fellows\/","title":{"rendered":"PeaceRep hosts Beyond Borders Women in Conflict Fellows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 23 August 2023, PeaceRep Research Fellows Laura Wise and Juline Beaujouan led a workshop session on \u2018The Art of Women in Peace\u2019 as a collaborative learning space for the Beyond Borders Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship Programme.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on insights and experiences from PeaceRep research on <a href=\"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/key-findings\/gender\/\">women in peace processes<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/2021\/04\/14\/art-as-a-tool-for-local-peace-reflections-of-young-artists-in-syrian-opposition-held-areas\/\">art as a tool for local peace in Syria<\/a>, the interactive session offered the Fellows a space to reflect on the challenges of inclusive peace in the places that they work, and potential ways that they can use their art to engender transformative change.<\/p>\n<p>The Beyond Borders August 2023 Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship Programme on The Arts as a Tool for Peacebuilding focused on the role and use of the creative arts as a tool for peacebuilding and conflict transformation. The Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship is based around the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 which \u201creaffirms the role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflict, peace negotiations, peace-building, peacekeeping, humanitarian response and in post-conflict reconstruction, and stresses the importance of their equal participation in all efforts for the promotion of peace and security\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Fellowship has been held three times a year since 2016, in Edinburgh and online during the Covid-19 pandemic, and has built up a network of almost 300 women from 27 countries across the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Latin America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Artists and peacebuilders from ten countries visited Edinburgh Law
