{"id":21384,"date":"2023-08-14T12:20:40","date_gmt":"2023-08-14T12:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peacerep.org\/?post_type=publication&#038;p=21384"},"modified":"2024-11-21T16:03:50","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T16:03:50","slug":"eu-external-action-development-spending-covid","status":"publish","type":"publication","link":"https:\/\/gentest.cahss.ed.ac.uk\/dev-peacerep\/publication\/eu-external-action-development-spending-covid\/","title":{"rendered":"EU External Action and Development Spending in a Time of Covid-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Author: Sanja Badanjak<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key findings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The EU\u2019s response to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic improved over the course of 2020, following an initial impression of chaos and ineffectiveness.<\/li>\n<li>In the spring of 2020, the EU\u2019s approach dramatically changed with the introduction of \u201cTeam Europe\u201d, a package of funding and a joint approach to external engagement.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cTeam Europe\u201d response pushed the EU\u2019s net Official Development Assistance (ODA) to a historic high in 2020, doubling direct budget support from the previous year.
